1. Introduction These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to all sales of goods and/or services by The Fireplace & Stove Centre ("we", "us", "our"). By placing an order, visiting our showroom, or using our website, you agree to these Terms. They form the basis of the contract between you (the customer) and us.
2. Formation of Contract
A contract is formed when we accept your order (via email confirmation, invoice, or verbal agreement for showroom sales).
Quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
All orders are subject to availability. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders.
3. Goods
Goods include fireplaces, stoves, gas fires, electric fires, surrounds, accessories, etc.
We aim to describe goods accurately, but images/colours may vary slightly due to screen settings or natural materials.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be:

Of satisfactory quality
Fit for purpose
Installed correctly (if we provide installation)
You must inspect goods upon delivery/collection and report any damage/shortages within 48 hours.
4. Services (Installation & Fitting)
Installation services are carried out by our experienced fitters (Gas Safe registered where required for gas appliances).
We will perform services with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time.
You must provide safe access, clear working space, and any necessary permissions (e.g. building regulations, flue checks).
Any additional work (e.g. unexpected structural issues, chimney lining) will be quoted separately and may incur extra charges.
We carry public liability insurance.
5. Pricing and Payment
Prices include VAT at the current rate.
A deposit (typically 30–50%) is required to secure an order/installation date. Balance is due on completion (installation) or before dispatch (supply only).
Payment by bank transfer, card, or cash (showroom). We do not store full card details.
Late payment may incur interest at 8% above Bank of England base rate.
6. Delivery & Installation
Delivery/installation dates are estimates — we will keep you informed.
Risk passes to you on delivery (supply only) or completion (installation).
You must be present or arrange access. Failed access may incur redelivery charges.
For gas installations, we issue a Gas Safe certificate upon completion.
7. Title & Risk
Goods remain our property until full payment is received.
Risk passes to you on delivery or collection.
8. Cancellation & Returns (Consumer Rights)
If you buy online/phone (distance sale), you have 14 days to cancel from receiving goods (or completion for services).
To cancel, notify us in writing. You must return goods unused/in original packaging at your cost (we may charge restocking fees for special-order items).
Refunds issued within 14 days of return/cancellation (minus any deductions for used/damaged items).
No right to cancel for bespoke/custom goods or if installation has started with your agreement.
Faulty/damaged goods: repair, replacement, or refund under Consumer Rights Act.
9. Warranty & Guarantees
Manufacturer warranties apply (e.g. 5–10 years on stoves/fireplaces — check product specifics).
We provide a 12-month labour warranty on our installations.
Warranties are void if goods are misused, improperly installed by others, or not serviced annually (for solid fuel/gas appliances).
Gas appliances must be serviced annually by a Gas Safe engineer.
10. Liability
We are not liable for indirect losses (e.g. consequential damage, loss of profits).
Our total liability is limited to the contract price.
Nothing limits liability for death/personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or statutory rights.
11. Force Majeure We are not liable for delays/failures due to events beyond our control (e.g. strikes, weather, supply shortages).
12. Governing Law These Terms are governed by English law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English courts.
13. Changes We may update these Terms. The version on our website at the time of your order applies.
